Relatin Dudes to Jazz
I came across these eight guys playing some incredibly tight New Olreans jazz in Washington Sq park a few hours ago. The tuba especially was blowing out.
Siren Music Festival 2007
The artwork for this summer’s Siren Music Festival put on by the Voice. I tried to capture the insanity and culturally brackish waters that is Coney Island while keeping the color palette limited to the reds and blues I’ve liked working with lately. Last summer I took a photo on the boardwalk of a man feeding seagulls frenchfries. He’d just hold them up in the air and the seagull would float down and gulp ’em right out of his fingers. That was partial inspiration for this illo and the moment is recreated right above the siren. Click here or on the image to see a larger version. The date is Sat. July 21st.
Billboard
I’m no illusionist, but as you other photographers know, there are some shots that are hard to resist. This is one of those.
i found this old soap postcard at a flea market, reminded me of a character that i created. struck me as an odd image for soap, but it’s a nice fundamental hollywoodeque conflict—boy protects girl from scary bear.
Ye Olde Winde Mill
Recently I completed this painting of the Old Mill on the island of Nantucket. I posted the initial sketch for this last summer.
Currently I am looking into framing possibilities. Continue reading to see some my considerations. I intend on using a linen liner for the first time.
Let me know what you think.
Morocco – March 2007
Here’s a smaller subset of the pictures I took on our recent trip to Morocco. We spent time in Casablanca, Fez, Marrakesh, Merzouga and Ilmil in the High Atlas. It is one of the most fascinating places I’ve traveled to, and I’m still reeling from all that we took in and experienced in the time we were there.
Fellow Google Earth nerds can check out the path we took around the country by downloading this placemark.
