My first impression of this painting was that it portrayed a very serene place, with its calm colors and its "just after sunset" atmosphere.
The dusky vibe and the clean lines of the semi-transparent color block, along with the vertical tree trunks that line the river banks, offset an underlying sense of disorder caused by the increasingly disjointed reflection of the trees in the water. Nice interplay.
I like that the painting also has both an interesting horizon and a strong point of perspective.
Beautiful piece!
